Darin is the founder and publisher of Benchmark Media, an independent publishing house whose mastheads include financialobserver, theinstoreport and selfmanagedsuper.
He has been covering the financial services space for the past 8 years and in this time he has worked for a variety of trade publications including Money Management, and IFA magazine.
Darin has also written for the Money section published in The Sydney Morning Herald and the Age.
Prior to starting Benchmark Darin was responsible for the re-launch of SMSF magazine under Morningstar Media, a pioneering publication in the fastest growing sector of the superannuation industry. He was also Managing Editor of all of the Morningstar Media mastheads.
Sarah is the editor of Benchmark Media’s daily financial services news publication, financialobserver, which delivers essential industry news and insights first to Australia’s financial services community. She manages all content for the daily newsletter, videos, opinion pieces, features and other regular sections of the publication’s website.
Sarah joined Benchmark Media in 2015 after three years with specialist financial services public relations agency Honner, where she was an account manager. Prior to this, she worked in communications for the Alternative Investment Management Association in London.
She has also previously held a range of editorial roles covering industries including hospitality, the arts and real estate, and worked as an editorial assistant at The Australian Financial Review.
Sarah has a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Technology Sydney and a Master of Arts in International Journalism from Cardiff University.
Taras Misko is Benchmark Media’s sub-editor, working across all the company’s titles: financialobserver, theinstoreport and selfmanagedsuper.
Taras has 20 years’ experience in the media and communications industry.
Prior to Benchmark Media, he worked at Morningstar Australasia, sub-editing a range of financial services publications, including InvestorDaily, IFA, Investor Weekly and SMSF.
From 2000 to 2005, he worked in corporate and financial services public relations at listed insurer IAG and Edelman Public Relations Worldwide.
He began his career as a journalist with Australian Associated Press in 1992.
During his seven years at AAP, he worked in the Canberra press gallery, on the Sydney finance desk and was deputy bureau chief of the Sydney newsroom.
Krystine is Deputy Editor of leading trade title selfmanagedsuper magazine, covering Australia's $600 billion self-managed superannuation fund sector.
She drives the weekly online news content, published every Monday, and writes the cover stories, technical features, news and professional profiles for selfmanagedsuper magazine, printed every quarter.
Before becoming dedicated to selfmanagedsuper, Krystine was a journalist for sister title, financialobserver since its launch in 2013.
Krystine has reported on the financial services sector since 2010. Before joining Benchmark Media, she wrote for trade titles InvestorDaily and IFA magazine, and Professional Planner.
Krystine has a Bachelor of Arts (Media and Communications) from Southern Cross University and a Diploma of Journalism from Macleay College.
She holds a background in superannuation, working at Australian Administration Services where she handled member accounts for industry super funds.
Daniel is a journalist for leading financial services news publications financialobserver and selfmanagedsuper, overseeing the production of daily industry news and insights on the latest in financial planning, wealth, accounting, fintech and superannuation.
Daniel joined Benchmark Media in 2016, having previously worked as a reporter for Cirrus Media, reporting on the latest in technology and innovation across the banking, insurance and fintech sectors for its three finance mastheads: Money Management, Super Review and FST Media.
He was also formerly the news editor of the Bondi View newspaper, with experience in investigative news reporting across such areas as current affairs, sports and politics.
Daniel has a Bachelor of Arts in Government, International Relations and English from the University of Sydney.
Catherine is head of sales and marketing at Benchmark Media, working across the portfolio of brands. Having held senior management positions in her time at ACP Publishing, Macquarie Bank and Publicitas AG among others,
Catherine has worked directly with some of the world’s most influential media brands, such as CNN, Time, Newsweek, The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Telegraph (United Kingdom) and more recently The Australian Financial Review,
The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age. As a marketing and media professional with over 20 years in print and digital media in the Asia-Pacific region, she brings a wealth of relevant experience to Benchmark Media.
Cynthia O’Young is the Events Manager at Benchmark Media.
Prior to starting at Benchmark Media in January 2013, Cynthia managed events in the aged care and tourism industries for peak bodies.
Cynthia has a Diploma of Event Management as well as a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Economics (Social Science) and Government from the University of Sydney.
